For further information go to www.pciyac.org/roadtrip.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>THE FILM CLUB (Edward McKenzie&rsquo;s Licentiate Project):</strong> The next film, to be shown on Thursday 23rd February at 7.00pm, will be &lsquo;The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe&rsquo; based on the novel by CS Lewis.&nbsp; Members of the congregation (young and not so young!) together with friends and family are invited to come along to enjoy the film, followed by discussion.&nbsp; As the film is a little longer than usual (143 mins) we will begin promptly! &nbsp;<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>THE BOYS&rsquo; BRIGADE</strong> thanks all those who supported their &lsquo;Coffee and Coppers&rsquo; event last Saturday.&nbsp; The amount raised was &pound;745 which will be split three ways amongsts the BB School in Uganda, Children&rsquo;s Special Service Mission, and The Life Change Centre in Windhoek, Namibia.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>MARIE CURIE TREK CAMBODIA</strong> &ndash; The Fundraising cinema night on 1 February raised &pound;902.&nbsp; A further &pound;82 was collected by children of the Sunday Children&rsquo;s Group.&nbsp; Marion Allen is most appreciative of the generosity and support and extends her thanks to all.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>USED POSTAGE STAMPS:</strong> The Women&rsquo;s Friendship Group ask that you please place your used postage stamps in the box provided in the Anderson Hall.</p>

<div></div>]]></content></entry><entry><title>Sunday 8 January 2012</title><id>http://www.killinchypresbyterian.org/announcements/2012/1/9/sunday-8-january-2012.html</id><link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://www.killinchypresbyterian.org/announcements/2012/1/9/sunday-8-january-2012.html"/><author><name>Administrator</name></author><published>2012-01-09T10:15:00Z</published><updated>2012-01-09T10:15:00Z</updated><content type="html" xml:lang="en-GB"><![CDATA[<p><strong>&nbsp;THE FILM CLUB</strong> (Edward McKenzie&rsquo;s Licentiate Project): Edward appreciates the support of those who have attended the first four films.&nbsp; The evenings have been most enjoyable and beneficial to Edward in the progression of his project.&nbsp; The next film, to be shown on Thursday 26<sup>th</sup> January, will be Angels and Demons (12A), directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks and Ewan McGregor.&nbsp; Members of the congregation (young and not so young!) together with friends and family are invited to come along to enjoy the film, followed by discussion.&nbsp; Please put the date in your diary!&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>&nbsp;MEN&rsquo;S WORSHIP SERVICE:</strong> &ndash; Morning Worship will be conducted by the gentlemen of the congregation on Sunday 22<sup>nd</sup> January.&nbsp; A choir practice will be held on Tuesday 10<sup>th</sup> January at 8.00pm.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>&nbsp;BAPTISM PREPARATION COURSE:</strong> This Course will take place over 4 nights, 23/24/30/31 January.&nbsp; For further information contact Dr Nel on his return on 16<sup>th</sup> January.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY:</strong>&nbsp; A Service will take place on Sunday 22<sup>nd</sup> January 2012&nbsp; at 6.00pm in Carrickmannon&nbsp; Roman Catholic Church.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>SPRING CLEANING OF CHURCH BUILDINGS:</strong> Friday 13th January 7.00-9.00pm and Saturday 14th<sup> </sup>10.00-12.30pm.&nbsp; Please come &ndash; all ages but expecially those who use our halls.&nbsp; It would be helpful if some could bring mops, buckets, dusters and hoovers.&nbsp; Please put your name on the list in the Anderson Hall.</p>

<p><strong>FREEWILL OFFERING ENVELOPES:</strong>&nbsp;Our church, like every organisation, feels the need to look at its expenditure in these difficult times.&nbsp; The cost of producing books of Freewill Offering Envelopes is high and it has been decided to purchase a smaller quantity than in previous years.&nbsp; This has meant re-numbering individual sets of envelopes to eliminate waste caused by unused numbers.<br />Additionally, it has been decided that where members have not used their envelopes regularly over a period of time new ones for 2012 would not be issued automatically.<br />If you have not received envelopes but you wish to have them, please speak to your Elder or Committee Member, or telephone the Church Office, and they will be issued to you.<br />&nbsp;<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>FINANCIAL YEAR END</strong>&nbsp;With the completion of the 2011 Financial Year all Treasurers of Church Organisations are asked to complete their accounts as soon as possible for the period ended 31 December 2011.&nbsp; These accounts should be forwarded to Bob Campbell (Auditor, Organisational Accounts) and Geoffrey Farmer (Church Treasurer) at your earliest convenience.</p>

<p><strong>CHRISTMAS DAY</strong><br />An informal Family Service to celebrate the birth of Christ will be held on Christmas morning at 10.30am.<br />The Service will be led by our Assistant Minister, Mr Edward McKenzie, and we look forward to welcoming everyone on this special day in the Christian calendar.</p>
<p><strong>THE FILM CLUB</strong> will meet for a Christmas Special on Thursday 29<sup>th</sup> December at 7.00pm in the Committee Room when the film will be &ldquo;The Muppets Christmas Carol&rdquo; starring Michael Caine.&nbsp; This is a retelling of the classic Dickens tale of Ebenezer Scrooge, miser extraordinaire. He is held accountable for his dastardly ways during night-time visitations by the Ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.&nbsp; Members of the congregation, young and old, as well as friends and family, are invited to come along to enjoy the film followed by discussion.&nbsp; Edward McKenzie would value your support with his Licentiate Project.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>BB WEEK:</strong> The Captain, Officers and Boys thank the congregation for donations by envelope and boys&rsquo; collection cards.&nbsp; The amount collected was &pound;1,100.&nbsp; Your generosity is very much appreciated.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>PW</strong> thank members of the congregation for their support and generosity at the Christmas Sale last Friday, 2<sup>nd</sup> December, when the sum of &pound;1,227 was raised.<br />&nbsp;<br /><strong>FANNER BEES:</strong> There are two kinds of bees in the hive: workers and fanners.&nbsp; The fanner bees gather inside the hive, facing the centre, and move their wings rapidly.&nbsp; Like a powerful fan this draws the stale, impure, bad air out and puts in fresh clean air.&nbsp; Without each one doing its job, the bee community could not survive.<br />&nbsp;<br />The work of these fanner bees can be likened to those in the church who are called to a special ministry of prayer.&nbsp; These are believers whose major work is to stay in touch with the clean, pure air of God&rsquo;s Holy Spirit.&nbsp; When Jesus said to pray and not lose heart, he was urging the disciples to pray without ceasing.&nbsp; The community of faith is strengthened as we respond to this call from God.<br />&nbsp;<br />If God has called you to a life of personal and intercessory prayer, join the fanner bees and see God work in our church and community.&nbsp; As a fanner bee for our congregation, the aim is to pray that the Holy Spirit may invade and fill the whole Body of our Church &ndash; Minister, Elders, Leaders, People, that we may be immersed and enveloped in the love of Christ.&nbsp; Become a fanner bee today, whether old or young, and through regular and focused praying in the quietness of your own home ask God to release new life within our congregation and give us power to reach out to the whole community.&nbsp; If you would like more information contact Dr Nel, Ian Shanks or Richard Wilson.</p>
